DOUG MAXWELL BY TED HUNTINGTON |THE BLAZE GOLDBURST SHOW, EPISODE 1| Author Interview
How was your journey to becoming a published author? What struggles did you undergo?
I’ll be honest, it is a grind. Writing a novel seems like a simpler process. I self-published my first two novels – Blast Off to Ecaps and Blast Off to Earth – on lulu.com. When I wrote Doug Maxwell, I hoped to land a publishing deal, but after several months I opted to self-publish and to use social media to promote. My FB forum, Authors’ Networking Group, actually opened the door to my publishing deal with Next Chapter, who re-published Doug Maxwell, and they are published my new book, Charlie Estrella. Even with the publishing deal, marketing books is a ton of work. The trick for writers is to build your audience. So, keep writing and continuously connect with others to grow your fan base.
How is Doug Maxwell going to inspire the lives of the people?
At its core, Doug Maxwell is about finding your true destiny, and fighting to overcome obstacles to reach that destiny. I think that message resonates with everyone.
Would a sports enthusiast love reading the book the most?
Yes, the book has a heavy sports theme, but it also appeals to fans of science-fiction, as well as romance stories.
Why is the character Doug Maxwell a Reluctant Hero?
Doug Maxwell is bestowed supernatural gifts that may not actually help him to find his true destiny. He is reluctant to become a supernatural superhero, although he is torn because of his desire to please his father.
Do you see Doug Maxwell becoming a movie someday?
A screenplay adaptation of Doug Maxwell has already been written, and we are working to land a deal with a motion picture studio.
What message would you give to your potential readers about Doug Maxwell? Please tell us more about the upcoming books in the series.
Doug Maxwell is part one of “The Storm Trilogy.” The next installment, Charlie Estrella, is due out soon, and I plan to write the third installment in 2021.
